God is moving in Egypt among His people.
Disciple-making leaders are growing in their faith and investing in key disciples. And sharing the gospel is a challenge in this region of the world. Evangelical Christians make up only 1% of this Muslim country.
No longer afraid to share the gospel
“The minaret next door wakes us at five o’clock every morning with the call to prayer, and reminds us five times a day that we are in a Muslim country,” shared Tom, a SIM worker serving in Egypt. “But the majority religion here is not unified and is losing its support, so we have unprecedented opportunities to share the gospel!”
Part of Tom’s ministry is to meet and encourage local evangelical pastors and leaders. “When we ask them, ‘How costly is it to share the gospel here?’ they reply with courage and hope,” said Tom.
One pastor shared, “These are special times right now. Our people are no longer in fear. We can speak with anyone now and the Holy Spirit is giving us courage to speak. I believe Jesus is here in Egypt!”
A mission field ripe for the harvest
Tom and his team recently gave a three-day African Strategic Discipleship Ministry (ASDM) training to nearly 100 pastors and leaders from Egypt and North Africa. After the workshop, several reached out to him asking him to help them begin discipling others in their home countries. It was exciting to see these pastors and leaders catch the vision for discipleship in their own countries.
“We walked away with the realization that Egypt and North Africa represent a vast mission field the African church can seek to reach through their discipleship efforts,” shared Tom. “People are coming to Christ in significant numbers.”
Please join us in prayer:
- Pray for the churches of Egypt and North Africa to faithfully disciple their own and reach out with courage to their surrounding communities.
- Pray for the recent African Strategic Discipleship Ministry (ASDM) training for nearly 100 pastors and leaders from Egypt and North Africa—that they will put into practice all that they learned.
- Pray for God’s direction as our ministry partners in Egypt prepare a five-year proposal to present to SIM U.S.A. for approval.
Your faithful support is helping shine the truth of the gospel into countries where it’s difficult to learn about Jesus.
